Symbiotic relationships: grey water, education and the job is just a job

Monday, August 24th, 2009

Quite often in the last year I haven’t made an effort write a bit on some personal goals and aspirations. Well, it’s been a bit of a gong show, to say the least, and sometimes I find that there isn’t anything to say and my mind is left with a blank. I have resorted to inspirations and unique things that I find in the information highway. The quick and dirty of blog posts.

I am just completing the last days of a 4 week internship with a design to suit kitchen and bath renovation studio and find myself returning to a job that drains me. They know it, I know it, but I’m a warm body in a cold seat working 9 to 5 with a 1 hour lunch. The job has one perk – school. I’m back at it in 2 weeks for the final push. After this I can write my AKBD exam, LEED-AP within the year and in 2 years my NCIDQ – brilliant! Over qualified and still no job in the field… sigh.

But I have a dream that through some symboiosis the job will come. Speaking of, here’s a really cool video on grey water in the bathroom with Ecologist Brent Bucknum, principal of Hyphae Design Lab in Oakland, California.

Yes, my container housing fetish lives onward and upward. Dwell beats a path to Marmol Radziner‘s Southern California factory to watch its assembly line in action in the February 2009 Prefab issue.

Its as if sometimes they’re inside my head or something.

Wanders for Mondrian South Beach

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

The Mondrian South Beach opened this month and Aaron Britt reports via Dwell that it’s Swedish, it’s white, it’s big and you’re going to love it. Designed by Dutch native Marcel Wanders (pronounced Vunders), I find the design and styling iconic, bold and extremely visual. I guess I know where I’m staying in FLA for the biggest wedding invite of the century.
