HOW WE WORK

Corey Klassen Interior Design (CKID) offers a complete full-service residential interior design or eDesign packages for discerning homeowners. We liaise with other professionals such as Architects, Professional Engineers, General Contractors, or even other Interior Designers.

We incorporate all functional aspects of the home, including interior decoration, furniture, and accessories. Clients benefit from our trade discounts.

CKID can work as a traditional cabinet dealership by designing and installing our own cabinetry, countertops, decorative hardware and functional accessories. We like to offer a one-stop-shop operation with service, honesty and realistic turn-around times.

When partnering with Fifth Element Construction & Renovation Ltd. as a joint-contract, CKID can offer a complete design-build solution without the additional business overheads larger firms require.

INTIAL CONSULTATION

INTIAL CONSULTATION

The first visit to your home will allow us to discuss your needs and requirements. Before we arrive, you should have your plans copied, inspiration images started, and and outline of your goals and objectives. Each project is unique and we treat each design problem with it's own set of circumstances. We asses how the whole home functions and may have more solutions than just the kitchen. If you are within Vancouver we may waive this initial fee. Otherwise the charge for this consultation will be nominal. The purpose of this visit is to estimate the cost of the design proposal.
DESIGN PROPOSAL

DESIGN PROPOSAL

No two projects are alike and therefore no two design solutions are alike. The initial steps of the Design Proposal are to arrive at some understanding of the solutions and project limitations. We provide you with some concepts and some general purpose outlines of the design costs and some hard costs such as cabinetry and counters. We arrive at these conclusions after our conversations and with the design philosophy of a farm to table aesthetic, authenticity of design, and an individualized vision for your project.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

After you have approved the Design Proposal, we move forward with a series of preliminary designs, materials, and finish options for you to choose. We will have about three to five meetings and arrive at the refined, finalized design. Using computer-aided three-dimensional drawings, sketches, and inspiration images, you will see our vision for your project. We will also estimate the costs and provide you with a timeline for completion. This process is typically about eight weeks, but can vary depending on the ability to make decisions.
CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS

CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS

After arriving at a finalized design, we will co-ordinate with architects, contractors, and other professionals in order to produce the documentation you need for your project. We will produce all needed drawings - electrical, plumbing, lighting and mechanical - in order to execute. During this phase, we are finalizing our specifications, noting and dimensioning all drawings, and finalizing all pricing for your upcoming transformation. If you do not have an interior decorator, we can incorporate all furniture, fixtures and finishes into our scope. This process is about two weeks in length.
ORDERING & PRODUCTION

ORDERING & PRODUCTION

We supply our own line of cabinetry, furniture, lighting, fixtures and fittings. Everything takes time to order and arrive, and we make sure that the quality and control are in place for the most optimal execution. By monitoring production we ensure that the project remains on track and on time. You will see much less of us during this time, and generally this when the construction work is being completed in preparation for our finishing. You will be ensuring the work area is clean and tidy before we arrive. This phase generally takes about six to eight weeks.
DELIVERY & INSTALLATION

DELIVERY & INSTALLATION

We continue to work with contractors and our installation team for a fitted look. There are many details to cover during the installation and we work diligently over one to two weeks to ensure cabinets and counters are prepared for finishing details. We administer the project from a design perspective, and ensure that the construction is conforming to the documentation. We address any adjustments after the finishing stage to ensure everything is complete and warranties are maintained.
